In July 2015 I attended \u201cThe journey on the path of Romanian Jews Holocaust<\/strong>\u00a0and the valley of death \u2013 Transnistria<\/strong>\u201d.\u00a0In 2006, I also participated in a \u201cRoots journey<\/strong>\u201d to North Bukovina<\/strong>, that was organized by Mr. Danny Marian<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

I think the current trip is the first historical event (and hopefully not the last !).<\/p>\n

The mass murder of Northern<\/strong>\u00a0Bukovina<\/strong> and Bessarabia Jews was conducted in<\/strong>\u00a0July 1941<\/strong>, in which approximately 120,000 Jews were murdered.<\/p>\n

The Village Chudey (Czudyn) <\/strong><\/p>\n

In early July 1941, all Jews in the Northern<\/strong> Bukovina village Chudey<\/strong> were murdered by the Romanian army.<\/p>\n

In this journey, I felt it is a sacred duty to locate the place of the murder of the Chudey Jews<\/strong>.\u00a0On \u00a0July 10th<\/sup> 2015<\/strong> I hired a taxi (a Hebrew-speaking driver) in Czernowitz<\/strong> and after a few hours ride and searches we got to the murder site, in the center of the village \/ town. Many of the village residents did not know or want to provide information about the murder site.<\/p>\n

Our findings are detailed in the attached file:
\n1. Photos from murder site.
\n2. The building that housed the court house \u2013 the \u201cGERICHT” and the prison.
\nThe Jews were assembled in this village and killed.<\/p>\n

Dr. Fanny Wald<\/strong>, in her book \u00a0“My victory – Memories”, in the chapter “The Romanians return to control of our region<\/strong>“, in pages 23-34<\/strong> – “Pogrom<\/strong>” mentions this event. and\u00a0brings a very important and exclusive testimony about this event.\u00a0This book was published by her\u00a0family in a limited edition.<\/p>\n

Note<\/strong>: The 2015 Yad Vashem<\/strong> work plan included publication of the book (it was budgeted), and its publication is still under review.
