{"id":396,"date":"2015-07-23T14:04:35","date_gmt":"2015-07-23T14:04:35","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.eylonconsulting.com\/bukovina\/blog\/?p=396"},"modified":"2015-07-24T10:23:54","modified_gmt":"2015-07-24T10:23:54","slug":"pechera-peciora-mass-grave-by-dan-marian","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.eylonconsulting.com\/bukovina\/blog\/?p=396","title":{"rendered":"Pechera (Peciora) Mass Grave &#8211; by Dan Marian"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A group of people that were born in <strong>Bukovina<\/strong> and <strong>Bessarabia<\/strong> went in May\u00a02006 to <strong>Ukraine<\/strong>, on <strong>a trip after the past<\/strong> &#8211; to visit places in <strong>Transnistria<\/strong>, to where the Jews from Bukovina and Bessarabia were deported by the Romanians and Germans\u00a0during WW2. Transnistria is located between the <strong>rivers Dniester<\/strong> and <strong>Bug<\/strong>.\u00a0Jews who survived the Holocaust\u00a0and arrived in Israel are\u00a0looking for a way &#8220;to close the loop&#8221;\u00a0and therefore come back to those places.<br \/>\n<strong>Dan Marian, Avraham Iwanier, Ben Artzi and\u00a0Mrs. Sara Hemel<\/strong> took part in this journey, that was lead by <strong>Prof. Wolf Moskowitz and Mr. Eliezer Lesoboy<\/strong>.\u00a0An article (in Hebrew) by <strong>Mrs. Sara Hemel<\/strong> was published on\u00a006\/06\/2006 and can be found at:<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.tapuz.co.il\/forums2008\/articles\/article.aspx?forumid=325&amp;aId=72670\">http:\/\/www.tapuz.co.il\/forums2008\/articles\/article.aspx?forumid=325&amp;aId=72670<\/a><\/p>\n<p>There is much talk about the <strong>death camp Pechera<\/strong> (Ukrainian), <strong>Peciora<\/strong> (Romanian) <strong>\u05e4\u05e6&#8217;\u05d9\u05d5\u05e8\u05d4<\/strong> (Hebrew), but there are very few visitors, and not many pictures. During WW2 it was a <strong>work-death camp<\/strong>, managed by the Germans (unlike other places in Transnistria that were managed by the Romanians).<br \/>\nThe Jews in the camp died of hunger, thirst (although the Bug river is close, Jews were not allowed to drink its water), cold and diseases.<br \/>\nBefore and after WW2, when the Soviets ruled the place, it was a <strong>hospital
